    Selena’s Killer Yolanda Saldívar Denied Parole

    A board of Pardons and Parole has denied Yolanda Saldívar parole three decades after her violent murder of Selena Quintanilla-Perez. The board cited the nature of the murder as its justification. Saldívar shot and killed the Tejano music legend after being accused of financial dishonesty. Selena was just 23 at the time of the incident and was a rising fame worldwide. Her family reacted to the news of Yolanda Saldívar being denied justice and thanked the board for delivering justice.

    Yolanda Saldívar Denied Parole

    Yolanda Saldívar has no hope of freedom for another five years after the  Texas Board of Pardons and Parole denied her parole application. The board ruled against her release a few days before the singer’s 30th death anniversary, on March 27, 2025. The board claimed they denied her due to the brutality of the crime and Saldívar’s lack of remorse. They expressed fear that she could be dangerous to society.

    The statement read, “After a thorough consideration of all available information, which included any confidential interviews conducted, it was the parole panel’s determination to deny parole to Yolanda Saldívar and set her next parole review for March 2030.” It continued, “The record indicates that the instant offense has elements of brutality, violence, assaultive behavior or conscious selection of the victim’s vulnerability indicating a conscious disregard for the lives, safety, or property of others, such that the offender poses a continuing threat to public safety.”

    Selena’s Family Reacts to Yolanda Saldívar’s Parole Denial

    After the Texas board denied Yolanda Saldívar’s parole, the late singer’s family took to social media to express their gratitude. They posted the statement on Selena’s official Instagram account.

    It read, “Today, we are grateful that the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles has chosen to deny parole for Yolanda Saldivar. “While nothing can bring Selena back, this decision reaffirms that justice continues to stand for the beautiful life that was taken from us and from millions of fans around the world far too soon.” The family said her legacy “is one of love, music, and inspiration,” adding that she “lived with joy, gave selflessly, and continues to uplift generations with her voice and her spirit.”

    “As her family and loved ones, we remain committed to preserving her memory and ensuring that her story is honored with the dignity and respect it deserves,” they continued. Selena’s family then thanked the singer’s fans for supporting them through the years, claiming it has been “a source of strength and healing.” They asked fans to continue celebrating the departed icon’s life just as they would.

    Selena’s Murder

    Selena Quintanilla-Perez died on March 31, 1995, after Yolanda Saldívar fatally shot her in the back. Saldívar, president of the singer’s fan club, managed her boutique. She was fired after Selena’s family accused her of embezzlement. On the day of her death, Selena had gone to a Corpus Christi motel to retrieve some financial documents. However, an altercation ensued, and Yolanda Saldívar fired a .38-caliber revolver at Selena’s back. The singer collapsed in the lobby and died shortly after getting to the hospital.

    However, she identified her killer before she died. Meanwhile, Yolanda Saldívar refused to surrender for 10 hours after police arrived. She claimed the shooting was an accident, but there was enough evidence against her. She was sentenced in October 1995 with the possibility of parole after 30 years. Before her death, Selena had won a Grammy for her album Live! She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a biopic starring Jennifer Lopez, and a Netflix series.

    Selena Quintanilla-Perez lives on in the hearts of fans and loved ones three decades after Yolanda Saldívar murdered her. Her contributions to the music industry and the barriers she broke also perpetuate her legacy. She may be dead, but her works live on.

    Former NFL Star LeShon Johnson Indicted In Largest Dogfighting Bust In U.S. History

    Former NFL running back LeShon Johnson has been indicted in the largest bust of the dogfighting trade in U.S. history. Johnson not only organized dogfighting games but also ran a large-scale dog breeding operation for the games. Although the dogs were recovered from his property in October 2024, the former athlete was indicted early this year. The court records on his indictment were only unsealed this month. Meanwhile, this is not Johnson’s first rodeo with dogfighting and conviction of the same.

    LeShon Johnson Indicted By Grand Jury

    Former NFL player LeShon Eugene Johnson faces a tough legal battle as a grand jury indicted him. After the federal bust, authorities rescued 190 pit bulls from his properties in Broken Arrow and Hasken, Oklahoma. They claim it is the largest dogfighting bust in American history. Federal authorities retrieved the animals under the Animal Welfare Act. LeShon Johnson has been indicted on 21 charges of running a large-scale operation.

    The jury indicted him for running a breeding and trafficking operation called “Mal Kant Kennels” for sale to other dogfighting rings. He also trained fighting pit bulls for himself. Evidence that led to his indictment included text messages, a Facebook page, emails of sales and pedigrees of the dogs, and CashApp history. The Oklahoma native was indicted in January, according to court records. However, he was arrested this week in Muskogee, after which the court unsealed his records.

    LeShon Johnson Raised Champion Dogs

    This is not the first time the former athlete has been charged with similar crimes. He pleaded guilty to state charges in 2004. In a clip Onsiteobtained, he got a 5-year probation for the felony. The grand jury that indicted LeShon Johnson found that he raised “grand champion” and “champion” fighting canines. Grand champion dogs won at least five fights, while champion dogs won at least three. Meanwhile, one of Johnson’s pit bulls, Hogg, won an unusually high number of fights–eight.

    According to prosecutors, Hogg’s record was strange because dog fights usually lead to mortal wounds. Other strong fighters included War Pony and Boot Stomper. Meanwhile, LeShon Johson also bred victorious dogs to create offspring with fighting traits and sold the breeding rights nationwide. He also sold the “stud rights” of champion dogs.

    DOJ Speaks About LeShon Johnson Indictment

    Top-level Department of Justice (DOJ) members have commented on LeShon Johnson getting indicted. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement per Fox News, “Animal abuse is cruel, depraved, and deserves severe punishment. The Department of Justice will prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law and will remain committed to protecting innocent animals from those who would do them harm.”

    FBI Director Kash Patel also reiterated the FBI’s commitment to keeping America safe and condemned Johnson’s actions. He said the bureau views animal cruelty cases as a way to fight organized crime, including trafficking and murder. “The FBI will not tolerate criminals that harm innocent animals for their twisted form of entertainment,” he said in a statement. Acting Assistant Attorney General Adam Gustafson added that the bust and Johnson’s arrest rescued almost 200 dogs “destined for a cruel end. “It disrupts a major source of dogs used in other dog fighting ventures.”

    After the jury indicted him, he faces five years in prison for each count and a $250,000 fine. Although his indictment is not an automatic guilty verdict, it will be difficult to wiggle out of this legal battle.

    The world knew that Bishop T.D. Jakes had suffered a medical emergency in November 2024. However, not many knew what it was. The Texas megachurch founder revealed what happened and the diagnosis in a Wednesday, March 26 interview. He said he didn’t have the usual symptoms that usually accompanied the health failure. So, he had no idea what was happening to him. The pastor claimed he would have been dead if he had gotten to the hospital five minutes later.

    Bishop T.D. Jakes Speaks About Medical Emergency

    Bishop T.D. Jakes was with TODAY for an exclusive interview on Wednesday when he discussed his medical emergency. According to the pastor, the medical emergency was a heart attack that happened while onstage in his church, preaching. The life-threatening incident occurred on November 23, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, where his church, The Potter’s House, is located.

    Jakes said, “I didn’t really realize what was happening to me onstage until I got to the hospital in an ambulance and fussing that it happened onstage, by the way, because I didn’t want it to happen, and the doctor leaned over my ear and said, ‘You had a massive heart attack.’” Bishop T.D. Jakes added of his medical emergency, “(The doctor) said five minutes later, I’d have been dead on arrival,” he continued. “The right side of my heart had completely stopped getting blood at all.”

    Bishop T.D. Jakes Said He Had No Symptoms

    Speaking about why he was unaware, Bishop T.D. Jakes explained that his medical emergency didn’t feel like one. He revealed that he felt no symptoms that day and was active before the event.

    “The reason I didn’t realize it was because I had none of the symptoms that they say,” Jakes revealed. “No numbness, no sharp pain, no anything. I just kind of drifted off to sleep. I didn’t know what it was, but I almost died.” He continued, “As long as I was up preaching, I felt fine. But when I sat down, the adrenaline dropped, and it exposed the fact that I was preaching with half of my heart closed through a clot. And they had to go get it.”

    Footage of Bishop T.D. Jakes’ medical emergency shows him standing and ministering before sitting in a chair. However, after sitting, he paused and began shaking once he lowered the microphone, and church officials rushed to help him.

    Bishop T.D. Jakes expressed his appreciation for all who supported him during his medical emergency. He shared that he was almost gone, describing what he saw, but noted that prayers brought him back. He said, “In my mind, I was in a quiet, peaceful, serene, white-enveloped, cloud-enveloped space. I was on my way out. Afterwards in retrospect, it was such a privilege to stand on the other side, to get a little glimpse of what it might be like, or at least what it was like in that moment for me. I think it was absolutely amazing.”

    The pastor added that while his congregation and global family prayed, “The surgeons were operating while I was awake. They never put me to sleep. Technology is amazing.” Bishop T.D. Jakes revealed that his medical emergency has not slowed him down but has made him more grateful. In his statement on X, formerly Twitter, on November 27, Bishop Jakes thanked the doctors who treated him. He also thanked God for saving him and his family, loved ones, and church.

    Bishop T.D. Jakes got vulnerable during his first sermon after his medical emergency on New Year’s Eve. He disclosed that he was anxious about returning to the spot where he had a heart attack. “And frankly, I think I [died], but God, in his infinite wisdom and great grace, brought me back to the same spot,” he said, per KXAS, adding, “I went through several hours of surgery. They almost lost me twice, but every time my numbers dropped, your prayers prevailed, and I’m standing here today in the glory of God.”

    Bishop T.D. Jakes’ medical emergency sheds light on the outlier cases that exist in medicine. Hopefully, his heart attack will raise awareness and help save other people who will need prompt response.

    Hailing from the Bronx, NY, Nicki’s journey into photography started with hip-hop’s renowned publication, Word Up! Magazine—a cultural staple that shaped an entire generation’s perception of music and artists. “My mom used to cop them for me whenever I visited her in the Bronx. I’d cut out photos of Chris Brown, B2K, and 50 Cent and plaster them all over my wall.”

    As she got older, her passion for collecting art transitioned to Tumblr, where she discovered photographers like Renell Medrano and artists like A$AP Rocky. “There was always some fly s***, very New York, and I wanted to take photos like that. So I asked my pops for a camera.”

    That request set her on a path that would eventually lead to capturing some of the biggest names in music.

    The Shot Seen Around the World

    When asked about her most notable project, Nickie doesn’t hesitate. “If you ask people on the outside, they’d probably say the photo of Drake and Central Cee at On The Radar.”

    In July 2023, she was gifted a rare opportunity by her friend Gabe P, the creator of On The Radar—a chance to photograph two legends as a birthday present. “That was a big opportunity. The fact that he called me made me feel like, ‘Damn, motherfers really respect my s—that they would call me when legends are coming into town.’”

    So, how did it feel to capture that moment? “I have this thing where I don’t fully realize what I’m doing—not even in the moment.” She explains, “It’s not until after, maybe when I post it or see it out in the world, that it really sinks in.”

    For Nickie, the experience felt almost surreal—like it was tailor-made for her. “I have no idea how anyone else in the room felt, but from him asking to see the photos, requesting me to send them—even asking for my IG to follow—it all just validated that I’m good being me, no matter where I go.”

    The Places That Stole Her Heart

    For someone who has traveled the world, picking a favorite destination isn’t easy. But for Nicki, two places stand out above the rest.

    “I’ve been bragging about this ever since I left—South Africa and Switzerland have my heart. Those are two places I just can’t let go of.”

    During her time on tour with Burna Boy, Nickie’s team surprised her with an early trip to Switzerland for her birthday, allowing her to take in its breathtaking landscapes before the tour resumed. “When I got there, I was like, ‘This is unbelievable.’ I really appreciate the team for that. Since I’m the only American on the crew, they always encourage me to explore and see that there’s so much more to the world.”

    From the vibrant culture of South Africa to the serene beauty of Switzerland, these destinations left a lasting impression on Nickie—ones she continues to cherish long after leaving. “I tried to FaceTime everybody. I called my manager, Ju, but the call wouldn’t go through. I tried calling my mom, but that call didn’t go through either. That was the moment I realized—just like the Drake experience, that moment was cut out for me.”

    Lil Scrappy and Bambi are famous for their stormy relationship and after-divorce drama. The Love and Hip-hop: Atlanta former couple has made headlines several times on account of this. Meanwhile, the rapper’s mother, Momma Dee, has also been a major figure in the drama surrounding the pair’s relationship. Amid their drama, Scrappy asked his ex-wife not to talk about him. However, the rapper recently broke his own rule when he shared a story involving her. Lil Scrappy claimed he was once robbed and when he called Bambi about it, she allegedly shunned him.

    Footage showing the rapper and some friends in a car made the rounds on the internet on Monday, March 25. During their conversation, Lil Scrappy recounted one time he was robbed and his ex-wife, Bambi’s response when he called her. “I got robbed. I’m going to be honest with y’all. I got robbed when I was going through my divorce with Shawty,” the Some Cut rapper disclosed in the footage Onsite obtained from LiveBitez. He said, “When I got divorced, it was while we were going through it. It was like two weeks before Christmas.”

    Scrappy said the divorce messed with him because it was his first marriage and divorce. Lil Scrappy and Bambi were married for five years and had three children before finalizing their divorce in 2023. The rapper claimed that the divorce hurt him badly and he drank a lot to deal with the pain. On the night he got robbed, he drove his then-girlfriend Diamond’s car while heavily drunk. “I don’t even know how I got in. I left the [cigar club],” he recalled.

    Lil Scrappy Claimed A Robber Shot At Him

    The rapper continued his tale, saying, “I got in the car, I left the cigar bar, got on the freeway, to go back to the house. I was coming back off of the exit that I got off, that I was already on. I was coming off that s**t again, and these ni**as hit me from the back.” the car went into a tailspin and fell into a ditch. As he tried to get out, the robbers busted his car windows and yelled at him to get out. Lil Scrappy said he could have died because he started attacking the robber who yanked at his chain.

    “I probably could have died. I knew I could have died. God was with me,” he said, adding, “If I ain’t never been scared in my life, I was scared. I thought I was dead. I thought he hit me cuz I seen him aim toward me. He wasn’t a good shooter or nothing like that but aim toward me and start shooting.”

    The bullets didn’t hit Lil Scrappy, but his confidence was shaken. The robber who had the gun also fled after he stopped shooting. However, when the other robber saw that the Gangsta Gangsta rapper was alive, he took what Scrappy had in his pockets and his chains. Meanwhile, Scrappy was all too happy to let go of everything after narrowly escaping death. The rapper also claimed that the robbers didn’t recognize him. However, the incident taught him that he wasn’t tough.

    After the incident, a shaken Lil Scrappy called Bambi, hoping for comfort, and was shocked when she didn’t respond. During his recollection of the incident, the rapper said it wasn’t the first time he had been robbed. He said what “really f***ed with me about that night is that I called the person who called themselves whatever they call themselves. The mother of my children told me when I called and I was shook up like a motherf***er. I was like, ‘Hey, I just got woo woo robbed.”

    However, Bambi’s response stunned Lil Scrappy and signaled she was done with him. Bambi asked her ex, “Why you ain’t call the other bi**h?” Lil Scrappy explained that he thought she would have some empathy for him because their divorce was not yet finalized. Additionally, they had three children to co-parent.

    Lil Scrappy’s recollection of the robbery incident and Bambi’s response indicate that he is not over either. However, Bambi’s response seemed appropriate, especially as he was driving another woman’s car.

    Slim Thug freaked many people out after he shared what he thinks of revealing clothes on women. The Still Trippin rapper all but admitted his attraction to a woman running. He recorded the unknown individual during his livestream and accused her of “false advertising.” Slim Thug said, “Look at all of that a**. And she got it out and ain’t giving nobody none. Ain’t that some bullshit, y’all? You can’t be out here false advertising like that. What the f**k? All of that ass and them short a** shorts, and she don’t wanna give nobody none. False advertising. I told her she better give somebody some every weekend.”

    He asked why the woman, who wore tight shorts, had “all [her] a** out” despite not intending to sleep with anyone. Slim Thug said she should have worn long clothes if she wasn’t interested. “No split the booty tight if you ain’t giving nobody nothing. Okay?” he said to fans.

    During his livestream, two men exited the gym and accosted the rapper. Slim Thug then filled them in on his rant about women in revealing clothes. He said it was meant to trap guys.

    “That’s kind of like that’s entrapment, right? I did say the way of entrapment. We ain’t falling for that entrapment. And they think, they talk like we crazy,” he said. He added, “Oh, man, it’s Kyle minding her business. Yeah, it’s still under Adam and Eve devil s**t. Fellas, do not fall for that s**t. These women [are] devils. They is the bad ones kid. They try to trap you with these outfits and try to make it like you’re a creep.”

    While commenting on revealing clothes, Slim Thug noted that he could see women’s full shapes. He emphasized that it was entrapment and asked why women wore tight clothing if they didn’t want sex. Slim Thug called it a “setup” and insisted on his right to look.

    He said, “What the f**k you got on? What the f**k am I supposed to say? The f**k you mean. Ni**a not gay, ni**a ain’t blind either. F**k is you wearing?     In her usual manner, Dr. Heavenly Kimes gave Dr. Contessa Metcalfe a dose of her scathing remarks this week. The dentist took to X, where she called her co-star’s teeth biracial and said it was her worst fear. “I know I need to be worried about my man asking for numbers , but this is all I’m worried about pray for me!” Dr. Heavenly wrote about Dr. Contessa’s teeth, adding a close-up picture of the latter’s upper and lower dentition.     Dr. Heavenly And Dr. Contessa’s Animosity

    Dr. Heavenly’s shade is unsurprising, given her caustic tongue and falling out with Dr. Contessa. The duo were great friends at the beginning of the show until they weren’t. Their time on the show, plus the influence of social media, contributed to their falling out. However, the former friends fell out completely after Dr. Heavenly’s shade about Dr. Contessa and Dr. Scott’s marriage on her podcast. The co-stars were also at each other’s throats during their recent Season 11 group trip.

    While there, the women resorted to verbal insults and digs at each other. However, the night took a turn when Dr. Heavenly said a deeply personal phrase for her co-star. While attacking Dr. Contessa, the reality TV personality said, “Your mama,” and the duo almost resorted to blows afterward. Speaking about the incident and her and Dr. Heavenly’s feud early this year, Dr. Contessa told US Weekly,

    “It ebbs and flows, right? We’re both Type-A personalities. We’re just both bulls in a China shop.” She added, “It’s going to always be this kind of power struggle. Like, who’s going to give in first? Meanwhile, Dr. Heavenly told Deadline, “It’s not on me. I don’t hold any grudges.     Others opposed the media personality’s action because it was a slap to her patients. Someone said, “A dentist making fun of ppls teeth should be considered unethical, like sheesh, u should atleast be able to be vulnerable infront of ur dentist.” An X user also stated, “I could never let you be my dentist. You to damn messy.” A third person pointed out that Dr. Heavenly’s teeth weren’t so great either until she fixed them. “Heavenly, stop. You were a whole practicing dentist with an unflattering smile for years and you didn’t even fix it until Mariah came at you,” the fan wrote.

    Vic Mensa has long been a vocal defender of black culture in America. He recently defended hip-hop music, asking why the genre has been demonized and held responsible for violence in America. Mensa referenced several movie franchises that portrayed violence as appealing but were never blamed for promoting it. He claimed that America’s attitude towards hip-hop reflected its hypocrisy and that the genre is not more violent than movies.

    Vic Mensa Calls Out America For Its Hypocrisy

    Hip-hop has always been synonymous with violence in America and many parts of the world. The lyrics, images, and actions of the rappers themselves have led many to conclude that the two are inseparable. And for so long, many have held on to the notion that hip-hop has fostered violence in America. However, one rapper is challenging this perception. In his latest appearance on the RosesAreDead podcast, Vic Mensa claims that America’s attitude toward hip-hop is hypocritical.

    “Hip-hop is often made the scapegoat for most of the issues in not only black culture but also American culture,” Mensa declared. “Look through the most successful film franchises of all time, films like James Bond, Lord of The Rings, Rambo, all violent s**t. Video games, like successful video games, all violent s**t, but you never really hear the film industry or the video game industry, maybe still small, but not in the same way that hip-hop is targeted as being ‘this is the reason why the streets are so violent.’”

    Vic Mensa Challenges The Black Community To Take Charge Of Its Narratives

    Vic Mensa further compared the responses to hip-hop and movies or video games concerning violence in America. The Down On My Luck rapper asked why Lord of the Rings doesn’t face the same criticism as Chief Keef. The hip-hop artist and record producer often references violence in his music with singles like I Don’t Like and Love Sosa. He is also synonymous with Chicago violence in his everyday life. An assailant also shot at him in June 2018, although he was unharmed.

    Vic Mensa also probed into America’s history and how it was founded on violence worse than hip-hop. However, he concluded by asserting that the black community has a role in changing the narratives surrounding hip-hop. The rapper asked when the community would wake up and decide to “craft a better narrative.”

    Vic Mensa’s Activism

    Mensa is an ardent activist, particularly on issues concerning black people. He is no stranger to calling out hypocrisy. The rapper runs the Save Money Save Life organization in Chicago to fight racism and finance art and health. He has also been vocal about gun violence, persecution of black people, and LGBTQ representation in hip-hop.

    Additionally, Mensa launched a black-owned cannabis brand in Illinois named 93 Boyz in April 2022. The first black-owned brand targets communities that the crack on marijuana has destabilized. The rapper said, “While it’s a blessing, it’s incredibly frustrating because the criminalization of marijuana has been used to incarcerate many Black people and has destroyed many Black families. The lack of participation from our community in our industry is another glaring example of American hypocrisy.”
