Mother Arrested After Being Accused Of Abusing Daughter After She Was Unable To Sit In Class

On Friday, staff at a Shreveport elementary school reported allegations of abuse, resulting in the arrest of 27-year-old Daisha Davis for cruelty to juveniles. A student revealed she was in pain and had difficulty sitting because her mother, Davis, had struck her with an extension cord, according to KTAL/KMSS.

Detectives from SPD and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services responded to the school, noticing welts and bruising on the child’s thigh.

Following the investigation, Davis was apprehended and charged with one count of cruelty to a juvenile. A statement from the Shreveport Police Department said,

“Situations like this are deeply unfortunate. While the Shreveport Police Department respects a parent’s right to discipline their children, it must be done in a reasonable and prudent manner. Using objects that cause injury is not only dangerous but can also constitute a criminal act. Corporal punishment is not forbidden by law, but it must remain reasonable and should not result in harm to the child.”

On Monday, a D.C. court convicted two teens for their involvement in the death of 64-year-old Reggie Brown on Oct. 17, 2023. A 13-year-old and a 14-year-old girl were accused of converging with others in chasing and attacking the man. They were found guilty of multiple charges, including second-degree murder, according to WJLA.

Officials provided a summary of the charges against the two teens. The 14-year-old was found guilty of second-degree murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit assault, but not guilty of first-degree murder or conspiracy to commit murder. While the 13-year-old faced similar charges with additional convictions for tampering with evidence.

Shortly after the verdict, Brown’s relatives told 7News they will not stop seeking justice. They intend to work together with other families affected by juvenile crime this year to fight for changes in laws to make sure that young offenders are held accountable for their actions.

Malda Brown, the victim’s sister said,

“So upsetting to see that they have not learned their lesson.”

Brown’s sisters attended the court hearing, where it was disclosed that the 13-year-old’s behavior had worsened since her arrest. She reportedly assaulted several staff members and other youths at the youth detention center.

According to officials, five girls aged 12 to 15 participated in the attack. Attorneys claimed they filmed the incident and shared it online. District attorneys mentioned the girls initially celebrated the attack but then tried to erase the evidence once it became public. One teen said they assaulted Brown out of boredom.
Two girls were sentenced for their involvement in the homicide. A 15-year-old received three years in a youth detention center after pleading guilty to assault.

American Airlines Plane Narrowly Avoids Colliding Into Hawaii Mountain Range

An American Airlines flight almost collided with a mountain range in Hawaii but avoided disaster when instructed to quickly elevate to

    “avoid danger.”

Flight 298, headed for Los Angeles, had just departed from Honolulu at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when air traffic control told the crew to

    “expedite your climb”

    for safety, reports LiveATC.

The traffic controller told the pilot,

“Number 298 turn right, expedite your climb through terrain and then turn right.”

Officials believe the quick rise prevented the plane from crashing into the Koʻolau mountain range in Oʻahu. This dramatic altitude increase occurred after the pilot did not make the required turn during takeoff from Honolulu International Airport, as stated by an FAA official to NBC News.

According to an American Airlines statement, the

“crew of American Airlines flight 298 requested and received right-turn clearance and complied with controller instructions… There were no issues with terrain clearance based on the trajectory of the aircraft.”

Young Boy Dies After Court Ruled Life Support Could Be Switched Off Despite His Mother Saying That He ‘Still Smiles’

Ayden Braqi sadly passed away at Great Ormond Street Hospital on Thursday, surrounded by his family, after life support was removed. He had a severe, progressive neuromuscular disease without a cure. Despite his condition and being on life support, he remained cognitively aware and was able to see, hear, smell, feel, and enjoy life, per The Sun.

In a ruling released after Ayden’s passing, Mrs. Justice Morgan stated that while he found comfort with family, the burdens of his illness and treatment outweighed those benefits. She emphasized the need for an

    “objective”

perspective on Ayden’s best interests, which led to the decision to end his life support. Ayden had been at Great Ormond Street Hospital since he was three months old.

Neriman testified that she often spent about 16 hours daily with her son, and Mrs. Justice Morgan acknowledged her deep devotion to Ayden.

Mrs. Justice Morgan called the case sad and unfortunate, mentioning the boy should not have to endure the burden of intensive care. However, she praised his mother for her strong support and dedication.

    A hospital spokesperson said,

“Going to court is our very last resort and something we only do when all other avenues are exhausted.”

Family Mourned After NYPD Mistakenly Told Them A Relative Died In A Crash Only To Discover It Wasn’t True

A family is in shock after being informed their loved one died in a crash, only to discover it wasn’t true. Officials initially advised Sheila Nagengast her sister, 44-year-old Denise Owen, was tragically killed, per WABC-TV.

    Nagengast said,

“She FaceTimed me, and my sister Denise..is standing directly in front of my (other) sister. Alive and well,”
