42-year-old Karen Salkilld, a gym owner in Western Australia, was discovered deceiving authorities by faking her own death to receive a hefty insurance payout of almost USD 500,000, which is equivalent to $700k in Australian dollars. She posed as her own partner in an intricate scheme, per the New York Post.
The insurance claim consisted of several forged documents, like a fake death certificate, a letter from a delegate of the Coroner’s Court of Western Australia, and a phony investigation record of the death.
The insurance company moved USD 477,520.26 into a bank account under Ms. Salkilld’s partner’s name. There is no indication of her partner’s involvement. However, the plan fell apart when the Salkilld’s bank detected and froze the suspicious account.
In an attempt to unfreeze the account and access the funds, Ms. Salkilld went to Palmyra Police Station with certified identification documents; however, her attempts failed.
Salkilld, who is the former assistant coach for the East Fremantle Sharks, as well as a mother of two, has been charged with fraud and could face up to seven years in jail. She has pleaded guilty and her sentencing will be next month.
19-year-old Aurora Agapov, a student at New York University is taking legal action against her 18-year-old roommate for allegedly stealing around $51,000 worth of handbags and jewelry. The lawsuit accuses the roommate, Kaitlyn Fung, and her mother, of planning the theft and selling the items online. The student’s father is a wealthy mining executive, per NBC News.
In May, Aurora Agapov noticed that some of her belongings were missing from their room in Founders’ Hall. She discovered a receipt addressed to Fung from an online consignment shop, The RealReal, which listed the missing items. The lawsuit claims that Agapov discovered evidence of Fung selling various items. This included an 18-karat ring valued at almost $24,000, a Celine tote worth $3,300, and a Chanel handbag worth $4,000.
The lawsuit states that a Bvlgari necklace and a Chanel bracelet were sold for $2,485 and $175, respectively. This is significantly less than their actual worth. Additionally, the lawsuit mentions that other stolen items, including a Gucci handbag, Christian Louboutin shoes, and a Celine handbag, were sold but later returned to Fung.
The roommate was apprehended after Agapov told officials. She has since been charged with grand larceny, says a police spokesperson.
According to the lawsuit, Agapov visited The RealReal in New York City and was told by a staffer that Fung’s mother had instructed them to send the unsold items to her residence. Agapov claims that Fung and her mother have not returned the stolen items despite being asked to do so.
A man, Camryn Davis, from South Carolina, aged 20, rescued a toddler who was wandering on a road. He spotted the child while driving home from work and immediately called 911 for help around 1 a.m., per WBTW.
The 20-year-old informed the outlet,
“At first, I didn’t know what it was… As I got closer, I realized it was a child.”
He went on to say that he noticed the youngster walking alone as he was on his way home from work. He noted the boy was walking in the direction of oncoming traffic causing him to stop the car and put his hazard lights on.
He told the station,
“Then I rolled my window down [and said], ‘Hey, where’s your parents?’”
While Davis called 911, he attempted to wave down multiple vehicles for aid. Reports say the toddler was only wearing a diaper when officials got to the scene.
The mother claimed that her child left the house after she fell asleep beside him. The toddler lives with his parents just a few blocks away from where he was discovered by Davis.

Entertainer and proud baby daddy Nick Cannon is gushing over his private stock that garnered him 12 kids.
The private stock we’re speaking of is Cannon’s own cannon balls which not surprisingly have been insured for a whopping $10 million given they are a pretty valuable commodity, wouldn’t you agree?
“Haters say it’s time for me to stop having kids and put this super sperm to rest, but I’m doubling down on these valuable balls and my future kids,” Cannon said in a statement.
The 43-year-old “Wild ‘N Out” host praised Dr. Squatch, a personal care company that hawks men’s soaps, for “giving my balls the credit they deserve.” And the company is dead serious about it, even securing an actual insurance policy through the Marsh & McLennan Agency and Momentous Insurance Brokerage.
And Cannon gets to show off a new jewel for his precious jewels – a “Most Valuable Balls” trophy.
So how did the company get a valuation of $10 million for Cannon’s precious man parts?
Well, there’s an actual Ball Valuation Tool and Cannon answered questions on its “size, favorite features and bedroom maneuvers.” It’s all for laughs and giggles though and there’s no scientific evidence to back it up. But the insurance policy is the real deal and likely even a gimmick to sell man soap.
