  • Spirit Airlines Passenger Tracks Down Stolen Luggage With Her Apple Watch After Airport Employee Takes It Home

Spirit Airlines Passenger Tracks Down Stolen Luggage With Her Apple Watch After Airport Employee Takes It Home

Paola Garcia had her spirit broken after finding out her luggage was lost after traveling from New York to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood on Spirit Airlines.

Garcia waited for her small pink hardshell luggage equipped with two Apple watches and a MacBook to roll off the carousel at baggage claim but it never did, Local 10 reported.

And when her checked luggage didn’t surface after two hours of waiting, Garcia soon realized it was stolen and that’s when her instincts kicked in and her super sleuthing commenced.

As for Spirit, Garcia said she was told by the airline that her luggage would be sent to her home. However, the next day Garcia’s Apple Watch started pinging at the home of an Airport employee Junior Bazile. The man lived 15 minutes away and worked the day Garcia’s luggage was “lost.”

“In my mind, I’m thinking I need my computer because I go to the university, I need my computer no matter what,” Garcia told the outlet.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet, Bazile worked at Paradies Shops at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Garcia took it upon herself to head to Bazile’s home to confront him. She called the police and when they arrived, they advised her against dangerously trying to handle the matter on her own.

“The police told me was like, ‘What are you doing here? This is so dangerous for you to be here,’” Garcia explained.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Bazile, 29, got rid of Garcia’s valuables, but footage from the airport showed him rummaging through her luggage at the back of his store.

Bazile was arrested for grand theft and faces five to 30 years in prison and fines ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, according to reports.

Disgraceful! Man Under Fire After Sporting Makeshift Kobe Bryant Helicopter Crash Costume, X Reacts

You can find the most interesting costumes at Comic-Con, but one that mocks the tragic death of a celebrity shouldn’t be one.

According to TMZ, a man in China dressed up as the late Los Angeles Lakers star player Kobe Bryant with a makeshift helicopter on his back to mimic the horrendous accident that occurred on January 26, 2020, that claimed Bryant’s life along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.

The offensive has sparked outrage in the States, but in Hangzhou, some people thought it was quite funny attire. The unidentified man wore a number 24 Lakers jersey and even a Kobe Bryant mask.
Fans on social media called out the Asian man for wearing the “tasteless” outfit.

“The most disgusting and disrespectful thing I saw on the Internet today- somebody at a Comic Con event made a Kobe Bryant helicopter costume!? That is a tragedy that took several lives! I don’t see the humor or the point in making let alone wearing a costume like this! Wtf!😡,” said one commenter Dwanna on Twitter.

It’s sad to think Kobe’s widow and children might come across this disrespectful picture. However, Kobe is still beloved and recently received a statue outside of the Crypto.Com Arena in his honor.

  • Middle School Bathrooms In New York School District Now Equipped With ‘Vape Detectors’

Middle School Bathrooms In New York School District Now Equipped With ‘Vape Detectors’

Middle school students in a Long Island town will no longer be able to vape on school grounds due to recent changes made by school officials. The bathrooms in Lindenhurst Middle School have been equipped with

    “vape detectors,”

specifically the FlySense FS300 models, as reported by the NY Post

These detectors can detect the presence of both nicotine and THC, which is a component of marijuana, in the air. Additionally, they are designed to monitor air quality and detect changes in sound levels. This means that the detectors can even notify school officials if fights occur inside the restrooms.

Derek Peterson of Soter Technologies told CBS the detectors have an AI algorithm that can tell the difference between a door and toilet lid slam and

“when somebody is roughhousing in the bathroom.”

According to Peterson, the detectors do not have any built-in microphones. When unusual activities are detected, an instant email is sent to the school’s principal. The students who are involved will then be connected with professional intervention services.

“There’s still a consequence, but now we’ve added that education piece,”

    Naccarato said.

“They also have to do a component of research based on vapes, how it hurts you.”

At the recommendation of a 15-year-old student, the school district looked into getting the detectors. The student, who we wish to remain anonymous, had noticed that her classmates were extremely addicted to vaping and were even rushing to do it in the bathroom during their breaks between classes.

“I was doing research on it, and I saw the side effects and how you can get popcorn lung, all the severe cancer you can get,”

She told CBS. Since it’s installation, Lindenhurst Middle School has caught two student vapers.

Indonesian Python Found To Have Swallowed Missing Woman Whole, Reports Say

In Indonesia, a woman who had been reported missing was tragically found to have been devoured by a large python, per The Post. The incident took place in Kalempang village, South Sulawesi province, reports CBS News

Farida, a 45-year-old woman and mother of four, went missing on Thursday night. Her husband and local residents discovered her body inside a reticulated python on Friday. The search for Farida began when she did not return home that night, as reported by village chief Suardi Rosi.

    Her husband

“found her belongings… which made him suspicious. The villagers then searched the area. They soon spotted a python with a large belly,”

    Suardi said.

“They agreed to cut open the python’s stomach. As soon as they did, Farida’s head was immediately visible.”

The woman was discovered fully clothed inside the large snake. The snake was reported to be at least 16 feet long. Noni, the woman’s husband, expressed regret for allowing his wife to go out alone.

“If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her,”

    he said, according to ViralPress.

“I feel sorry for the suffering she went through. I am sorry for our family,”

    he said.

These kinds of incidents are uncommon, but they have happened before in Indonesia. Just last year, in the Tinanggea district of Southeast Sulawesi, residents killed a massive python that measured 26 feet long. The snake was found strangling and devouring a local farmer. This type of python, known as a reticulated python, is the longest snake in the world and is native to Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and Borneo. The largest reticulated python ever recorded was 32 feet long and weighed an astonishing 350 pounds, as reported by Reptiles Magazine.

‘Reckless’ Golf Cart Driver Fatally Strikes Disneyland Employee, Reports Say

A tragic incident occurred at Disneyland when a staff member lost her life while on duty. The incident occurred in the backstage area of the Southern California theme park. The employee was thrown off a malfunctioning golf cart that was being driven

    “recklessly,”

as reported by the NY Post

The victim, Bonnye Mavis Lear, who worked as an administrator at Club 33, suffered severe head injuries around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she sadly passed away two days later. The details of the accident are still limited, but according to Lear’s colleagues, she was thrown off the cart when the driver carelessly hit a bump in the road.

Lear was seated in the rear-facing seat of a brand new cart, traveling at a speed of 20 mph behind Critter County, an area of the park that was temporarily closed. This information was shared by Rae Delgado, a cast member at Disney California Adventure, on Facebook.

“She went to grab the handrail, it gave way and sent her out of the vehicle. We do not know if the passengers were aware that she had fallen out,”

    Delgado wrote.

Lear endured a serious head injury and a fractured skull that could not be resolved through surgery, according to Delgado. In addition, the Disneyland employee claimed that the managers at the Anaheim resort instructed the cast members to remain silent about the details surrounding Lear’s passing.

Lear had worked at Disneyland for 24 years, most recently in membership support services at Club 33.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,”

Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said in a statement.

  • Neighbors Rescue Victims, Including 2 Children, From Devastating Plane Crash In Front Of Colorado Home

Neighbors Rescue Victims, Including 2 Children, From Devastating Plane Crash In Front Of Colorado Home

A small plane crashed in the front yard of a Colorado home on Friday morning, as reported by the NY Post. Neighbors quickly came to the rescue, pulling out the four passengers, including two children, from the wreckage before it became engulfed in flames. The plane, a 1969 Beechcraft 35, had hit a fence and a tree before crashing.

The incident occurred in a neighborhood in Arvada, just outside of Denver, around 9:30 a.m. The four passengers were taken to a local hospital with burns, but their conditions are currently unknown. Witnesses described how neighbors rushed to help, and one couple inside their home initially mistook the crash for a train derailment across the street.

“We saw the explosion and the glow from the outside and said, well, wait a second,”

    he said.

Hamrick said he thought his house might collapse.

“It felt like it was falling in. I mean, it was just that violent,”

    he said.

The pilot and his wife were unharmed in the plane crash. The pilot, who remains unidentified, experienced engine problems shortly after takeoff. He contacted air traffic control for an emergency landing due to low oil pressure. However, the plane lost power, and the pilot had to make an unplanned landing in a residential area. The plane clipped a tree, skidded onto the road, hit a truck, and stopped in a front yard.

“I’m sure what was going through the pilot’s mind was ‘I see a roadway, I need to get this aircraft down, let’s give it a shot,’”

NTSB accident investigator Alex Lemishko told KDVR. Video shows emergency responders arriving at the location where the wreckage of the plane was burning on the front lawn. They were able to quickly put out the fire, but later on, it briefly flared up again.

The clock is ticking for the mysterious recipient of a $2.9 million lottery prize. A Mega Millions ticket, purchased in Los Angeles last year, is set to expire if the winner doesn’t come forward by 5 p.m. on Friday, reports the NY Post

The winner’s identity remains unknown, and they have until the deadline to visit one of California State Lottery’s nine offices and claim their prize. Failure to do so will result in the ticket being invalid. The California Lottery is urging all players to check their Mega Millions tickets. According to lottery rules, winners with five matching numbers have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. If the prize remains unclaimed, the $2.9 million will be given to public schools in California.

  • Body Cameras To Be Worn By TJ Maxx and Marshalls Employees In An Effort To Reduce Thefts

Body Cameras To Be Worn By TJ Maxx and Marshalls Employees In An Effort To Reduce Thefts

TJ Maxx and Marshalls, two popular US retailers, have decided to provide their employees with body cameras as a measure to address the increasing incidents of theft, per the NY Post

This move by TJX Companies comes after conducting trials with the body cameras at selected store locations earlier this year,

“de-escalate incidents, deter crime and demonstrate to our associates and customers that we take safety in our stores seriously,”

a spokesperson for the parent company told FOX Business.

The body cameras will be worn by specially trained loss prevention officers. The company has stated that the recorded footage will only be shared with law enforcement if requested or in response to a subpoena. During a recent earnings call, Chief Financial Officer John Klinger expressed the company’s hope that the presence of the cameras would discourage potential thieves once they are aware they are being filmed.

According to the National Retail Federation, businesses across the country suffered losses totaling $112.1 billion in 2022 due to theft. In response, several companies, including Target and Dollar General, have announced their intentions to either limit or remove self-checkout options at their stores as a deterrent to thieves.

  • Philippine Police Officers Arrested After Allegedly Kidnapping 4 Tourists and Seeking Ransom

Philippine Police Officers Arrested After Allegedly Kidnapping 4 Tourists and Seeking Ransom

Four police officers in the Philippine capital have been arrested for kidnapping four foreign tourists and demanding a ransom, AP News reported. The officers stopped a luxury car carrying three Chinese and a Malaysian. With the help of armed civilians, they forcibly took the tourists into a van.

Two of the Chinese tourists managed to escape and alerted the authorities. The remaining captives were beaten but were released after a ransom of 2.5 million pesos ($43,100) was paid. The arrest of the police officers, including a police major, was made possible through information provided by the freed tourists and security camera footage.

The footage showed the kidnappers, one of whom appeared to be a police officer, stopping a car and forcibly removing the passengers in front of other motorists.

“I was shocked that policemen were the ones involved,”

Abalos said in a news conference.

“This incident is a serious breach of public trust and core values of the police force.”

Police are searching for at least 10 additional suspects who were involved in the kidnapping but were not law enforcement. The police have filed criminal complaints against the suspects for kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery. Former President Rodrigo Duterte had previously criticized many members of the national police force, which consists of over 230,000 officers nationwide, describing them as

    “rotten to the core.”
