Black Teen Mistaken For Robbery Suspect While Driving His White Grandmother Files Lawsuit Against Officers Involved

A black teen who was pulled over and arrested while driving with his white grandmother in 2018 is now suing the cops involved because they never told him what the arrest was for except that they received a

    “suspicious tip,”

The Root reports. He now wants to know what made him look suspicious.

In 2018, Akil Carter was riding with his grandmother Paulette Bar, and her friend, Sandra Adams, both white women, from church when he was suddenly stopped by police. The incident occurred near the Mayfair Collection outlet mall in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Carter was pulled over by Officer Patrick Kaine who said in court Monday that he received an

    “urgent notice”

    from a

    “tipster”

about a block boy robbing two white women inside a blue Lexus.

Dashcam footage obtained by WISNM 12 News shows the moments leading up to Carter’s arrest. Kaine is heard yelling at the teen to get out of the car with his hands up and walk backward toward the officers. Kaine is seen drawing his .40 caliber Glock service weapon while another officer is handcuffing the teenager. Carter is then placed in the back of the patrol car while his distraught grandmother explains that the boy is her grandson. The officer is heard apologizing to the women and says he was given the wrong information from

    “tipsters”

who were reportedly never to be found.

Carter’s attorney, claims his Fourth Amendment right to be protected from

    “unreasonable seizure”

was violated. In the lawsuit, it says officer Kaine had

“no probable cause to believe Carter was doing anything criminal,”

    reports state.

  • Father Arrested for Allegedly Biting ‘Ungrateful’ Newborn After Nurses Overheard Him Call Baby ‘Evil’

Father Arrested for Allegedly Biting ‘Ungrateful’ Newborn After Nurses Overheard Him Call Baby ‘Evil’

An Indiana father has been arrested after biting his newborn daughter multiple times, leaving

    “mouth-shaped bruises”

and teeth marks all over the infant’s body, Law & Crime reported.

Gavan Rogers, 24, was picked up by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. The parents attended the newborn’s 2-week checkup at the Witham Hospital in Lebanon when hospital staff noticed

    “suspicious bruising”

on the baby’s forearms, stomach, shoulders, knee, and leg reports state. Staff immediately notified the Whitestown Police Department.

Police questioned Rogers who said he

    “open-mouth kissed” or “play bit”

    the infant with

    “too much force,”

Indianapolis Fox affiliate WXIN reported. Rogers explained that he

    “nibbled too hard”

on the baby but she was fully clothed. Detectives reportedly counted

    “at least six”

bite marks on the newborn, according to the Reporter.

“These injuries could only have been inflicted while using excessive force, which would have caused severe pain to the [victim],”

the affidavit reportedly states. Detectives also learned that after the baby’s birth, Rogers called the child

“evil,” a “little b—-” and “ungrateful”

when the child was in the neonatal intensive care unit, WXIN reported.

    One nurse reportedly wrote,

“I am not comfortable sending this baby home to the care of [father of the baby].”

Nurses also noted that Rogers appeared

    “frustrated”

whenever his daughter would cry,  per WXIN.

He now faces charges of one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury and one count of domestic battery with bodily injury to a person under 14, court records reveal.

  • Pet Monkey Shot and Killed After Ripping a Woman’s Ear in Half, Pulling Her Hair Out, and ‘Slapping a Man Across the Face’

Pet Monkey Shot and Killed After Ripping a Woman’s Ear in Half, Pulling Her Hair Out, and ‘Slapping a Man Across the Face’

A pet monkey went on a violent rampage after escaping his home in Oklahoma before being shot dead, NBC News reported.

The wild monkey, reportedly named Jack, disappeared from his home in the town of Dickson over the weekend and violently attacked neighboring residents. The victim, Brittany Parker, said she first sighted the monkey on her front porch.

“He was lunging from one side of my porch and hitting the glass trying to get in,”

    Parker told the outlet.

Parker said she notified police around 6 p.m. and shortly after officers arrived on the scene. The Dickson Police Department called the Oklahoma Wildlife Department to help capture the monkey.  The monkey then jumped onto the back of the patrol car and continued on its bloody pursuit attacking the woman, ripping her ear in half, and pulling out her hair.

“It ran up my back and jumped onto my head, pulled hair out, and then ripped my ear in half like you would a piece of paper,”

Parker told the local outlet. She had to be rushed to the hospital where she received over 187 stitches.

Jack ran off into the woods before the police could nab him. Officers spoke to the owners who attempted to seize the animal but they were also

    “unsuccessful.”

Parker said she called a friend to help catch the monkey and he received a piece of the monkey’s fury as well.

“After I had been attacked, the monkey went out to his vehicle and slapped him across the face and pulled his hair,”

    Parker told KTEN.

The man shot the monkey who died on the scene. Dickson police said the monkey was brought to the Oklahoma Disease Laboratory for testing. An investigation is ongoing. Oklahoma law allows primates to be classified as pets, so a permit is not required, according to KTEN.

Parker continues to recover from her injuries but says she is traumatized.

“I am very traumatized. I am very scared,”

    she said.

  • San Francisco Board To Consider $5M Reparations Check For Black Residents

San Francisco Board To Consider $5M Reparations Check For Black Residents

It looks like payments of $5 million may be awarded to every eligible black resident of San Francisco after talks of a reparations plan, NY Post reported.

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors met Tuesday to discuss a proposed idea that suggests paying a $5 million lump sum, the elimination of personal debt and tax burdens, guaranteed annual incomes of at least $97,000 for 250 years, and homes in San Francisco for just $1 a family to all eligible black residents affected by centuries of enslavement and systemic racism.

To be considered, applicants must be 18 or over and have

“identified as black on public documents for a decade,”

reports state. They will also have to verify that they meet two out of eight additional standards — including

“being born in or having migrated to San Francisco between 1940 and 1996, and having proof of residency for at least 13 years, being personally or a direct descendant of someone jailed in the ‘failed War on Drugs,’ or being a descendant of someone enslaved before 1865.”

“It is not a matter of whether or not there is a case for reparations for Black people here in San Francisco. It is a matter of what reparations will and should look like yet,”

Supervisor Shamann Walton said at the hearing’s opening,

“and still we have to remind everyone why this is so important.”

The Board of Supervisors says they will not respond to the city-appointed reparations committee’s list of more than 100 recommendations until it releases its final report in June. The board will vote to change, adopt or reject any or all the recommendations. However, some San Francisco Board of Supervisors expressed their support for the ideas listed, saying money should not deter the city from doing the right thing.

According to The Post, San Francisco has taken a financial plummet due to a tech industry downturn which will cause push back on the reparations plans. One estimate predicted the plan could cost the city, which has a 2022-2023 budget of $14 billion, roughly $50 billion. However, residents remain optimistic.

“The number itself, $5 million, is actually low when you consider the harm,”

Eric McDonnell, chair of San Francisco’s African American Reparations Advisory Committee said in a statement.

Missing Dallas Teen Found Locked in Shed 1,000 Miles From Home After Being Kidnapped and Raped By Man She Met Online

A missing 13-year-old girl from Dallas, Texas was found locked in a shed more than 1,000 miles away in North Carolina after she was abducted and raped by a man she met online, CNN reported.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina said they received a call about the missing teen from a special agent with the FBI in Texas. The girl was later found at a property in Lexington, about an hour’s drive northeast of Charlotte, the same day they were alerted.

The suspect, 34-year-old Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho was arrested and charged with

“eight felony charges, including child abduction, felonious restraint, human trafficking, and statutory rape of a child,”

the sheriff’s office said per the outlet.

He is accused of grooming the teen after meeting on social media and later in person.

“The content of the chat was consistent with grooming and enticement,”

the release said. Camacho allegedly kidnapped the teen and held her captive for

    “sexual servitude,”

    reports reveal.

Police picked Camacho up during a traffic stop, as he pulled out of his Lexington property, after linking his vehicle to the young girl’s house.

“During the traffic stop, it was determined that the juvenile was locked in an outbuilding on the (suspect’s) property,”

the release said. Investigators unlocked the shed and discovered the missing teen, the sheriff’s office said. She was taken to a hospital where she underwent an examination and was later taken back to Texas.

Camacho is being held in the Davidson County Jail on a $1,250,000 bond, CNN reports.

  • Man Sues Buffalo Wild Wings For Falsely Advertising ‘Boneless Wings’ That Are Actually ‘Closer To Chicken Nuggets’

Man Sues Buffalo Wild Wings For Falsely Advertising ‘Boneless Wings’ That Are Actually ‘Closer To Chicken Nuggets’

An Illinois man has been filing class action lawsuits against multiple companies for

    “false advertisement”

of their products. In his latest suit, he accused the restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings, of inaccurately naming their boneless wings which he claims are closer to chicken nuggets, Insider reported.

Aimen Halim filed the lawsuit in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Friday. According to court documents obtained by Insider, Halim is suing the franchise for

“the false and deceptive marketing and advertising of’ that Buffalo Wild Wings Boneless Wings.”

He claims that the boneless wings are

    “not wings at all”

but are actually deep-fried chicken breast meat that mimics the look of chicken nuggets.

“Indeed, the Products are more akin, in composition, to a chicken nugget rather than a chicken wing,”

the document says. It went on to call the advertisement

    “misleading”

and pointed out that if the product was in fact a boneless wing it would resemble a chicken wing that

    “has simply been deboned.”

Buffalo Wild Wings responded via Twitter about the case where they seemingly poked fun at it,

“It’s true. Our boneless wings are all white meat chicken. Our hamburgers contain no ham. Our buffalo wings are 0% buffalo.”

Buffalo Wild Wings has carried their boneless wings since 2003 and has described it as

    “all-white chicken” that’s “lightly breaded.”

However, Halim believes with a name like

    “Buffalo Wild Wings”

they ought to be more specific.

“It should be noted that Domino’s Pizza and Papa Johns also sell actual chicken wings, and that, a restaurant named Buffalo Wild ‘Wings’ should be just as careful if not more in how it names its products,”

    the lawsuit says.

Halim previously filed lawsuits against Colgate, Kind, and Hefty — accusing Colgate of falsely labeling their Tom’s Wicked Fresh Mouthwash as

    “natural.”

He said Kind’s “high in fiber” label was also untrue and that Hefty shouldn’t advertise its bags as

    “recycling bags”

because they are not recyclable. The Hefty case was dismissed in August, reports state.

Minnesota Father Kills Elderly Sex Offender with Moose Antler, Police Say

A Minnesota dad admitted to killing a sex offender he suspected had once stalked his toddler daughter, NY Post reported. The dad told officers he

    “finished him off”

    with a moose antler.

Levi Axtell, 27, turned himself into the Cook County Sheriff’s Office on March 8. Police said Axtell arrived at the station covered in blood, fell to his knees, and confessed to fatally beating Lawrence V. Scully, 77, with a shovel, Fox reported. Axtell told officers he

    “finished him off”

by stabbing him with moose antlers.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said they later discovered Scully’s body inside his home.

Police said they also received a 911 call from a neighbor who had seen someone

    “smash”

a car in Scully’s driveway and run into his home. The witness told officers they heard screaming shortly afterward.

The two men reportedly had an ongoing conflict. Axtell had accused Scully In 2018 of

    “stalking” and “attempting to groom”

his then-toddler daughter at her daycare after continuously parking his vehicle at the facility, reports reveal. The father went to obtain an order of protection against Scully but his request was later dismissed. About two years later, Axtell wrote on Facebook that

“Only cure for pedophiles? A bullet”

Scully was convicted of molesting a 6-year-old girl in 1979.

Axtell was indicted Friday on a second-degree murder charge and is being held on a $1 million bond.

  • Woman Charged with Stealing $246K in Pension Payments From Deceased Police Dad and Buying Luxury Items

Woman Charged with Stealing $246K in Pension Payments From Deceased Police Dad and Buying Luxury Items

A Long Island woman was arrested after allegedly stealing her late father’s pension after his death and using the money to purchase a luxury home and a Mercedes Benz, NY Post reported.

Alayne Bertolino, whose dad was Nassau County Police Detective Joseph Bertolino, allegedly continued to receive her father’s pension 4 1/2 years after his death at age 69 in 2014. The 48-year-old is accused of failing to notify the state retirement system of her dad’s death.

Bertolino reportedly retired from the department in 1991 and had been collecting his pension via direct deposit in a joint account shared with his daughter. However, payments are supposed to end after a person is deceased.

DiNapoli’s office said they didn’t find out about the theft until after receiving a change of address form for the father in 2017, reports reveal. The payments were immediately canceled once the retirement system became aware of his death.

Alayne is accused of making multiple transfers into her family bank accounts and using the funds to purchase a new, $70,000 black Mercedes-Benz GL350 and a $556,000 seven-bedroom, five-bathroom home in Cumming, Ga., 40 miles northeast of Atlanta, officials allege.

“The defendant took advantage of her father’s death to profit handsomely at the expense of New York’s retirement system and fuel an extravagant lifestyle,”

    DiNapoli said, adding his office

    “will seek full restitution.”

Alayne Bertolino pleaded not guilty at arraignment in Albany City Court, telling The Post that the matter “was a misunderstanding.”

  • Man Files $1 Million Lawsuit Against 3 Women Who Allegedly Distributed Abortion Pills To His Ex-Wife

Man Files $1 Million Lawsuit Against 3 Women Who Allegedly Distributed Abortion Pills To His Ex-Wife

A pro-life ex-husband from Galveston, Texas is suing his ex-wife’s friends for allegedly helping her obtain abortion pills from across state lines, CNN reported.

This is the first case of its kind since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year. According to the suit, Marcus Silva alleged that his former wife, whom he shares two daughters with, used illegally distributed abortion pills given to her by friends, which later resulted in the death of their unborn child.

In the civil suit, he claims the women used

    “Aid Access,”

a site that ships the pills from overseas, and had them shipped to Houston where they lived. The suit accuses the women of

    “aiding and abetting”

to receive certain contraception, and he also blamed them

“for [his unborn child’s] wrongful death.”

Silva said he wants the women to be charged with murder, and if recognized, could permit the state to charge and sentence the women involved with the death penalty. However, his wife whose identity has been concealed, believes her ex is only doing this because she divorced him.

“I know either way he will use it against me,”

the ex-wife said, according to photos of a group text attached to the suit.

“If I told him before, which I’m not, he would use it as [a way to] try to stay with me. And after the fact, I know he will try to act like he has some right to the decision.”

The ex-husband is asking for more than $1 million in damages, and he also wants an order to stop the three women from further administering any abortion pills.

School Janitor Arrested After Acting As 11-Year-Old Girl’s ‘Secret Admirer’ and Having Child Pornography On His Phone

An elementary school janitor was arrested for allegedly acting as a

    “secret admirer”

to an 11-year-old student and saving dozens of photos of child pornography on his cellphone, NY Post reported.

Ethan Colpetzer, 30, worked as a custodian at Claysburg-Kimmel Elementary School in Claysburg, Pa. Colpetzer allegedly asked other staff members for details about an 11-year-old girl. He began to send her candy, gifts, and notes under the guise of a

    “secret admirer.”

After a month of consistent gift giving the child left a note asking who her admirer was to which Colpetzer responded

    “Ethan.”

The disturbing detail alarmed teachers, who knew no child by that name, which prompted them to alert authorities. Before that, another employee had caught Colpetzer snapping photos of students in the cafeteria, including a

    “zoomed-in”

    photo of the 11-year-old girl

    “bent over”

    at the lunch table.

Police discovered 74 images of young children performing sexual acts, including one image displaying bestiality (sex between a human and an animal) in his phone. He was arrested on March 7th and taken to the Blair County Prison, reports reveal.

He later confessed to police that the photos he saved were from the internet and that he was the

    “secret admirer”

who left the gifts and candy for the 11-year-old girl. His bail is set at $100,000.

    School district officials told WTAJ,

“We are disturbed and disheartened by the information included in the allegations and wish to note that we have not received any further reports or other information suggesting that any Claysburg-Kimmel School District student was made subject to any form of inappropriate contact other than that which has already been reported.”
